Biographies Mark Worthington, Executive Director Mark is an attorney in Massachusetts where he practices in a law firm devoted exclusively to persons with disabilities and their families. He earned his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law and his LL.M. in Tax from Boston University Law School. He recently retired from twenty-one years teaching as a professor in the Graduate Program for Elder Law and Estate Planning at Western New England University School of Law. Eric Cote, Director, MPDT Management Company Eric Cote graduated from Colby College, and the New England School of Law. He served in the army in Vietnam and Africa. He is a former Mayor of Saco; current City Councilor in Saco; and he has been an attorney in his own general practice law firm for more than 27 years. He has served as Director for the non-profit Wardwell Home in Saco, for over 18 years. The Wardwell Home provides housing and supportive services for the elderly. Michael Kemna, Director, MPDT Management Company Michael Kemna graduated from the University of Maine, University of Kentucky, and Sanders Brown Research Center on Aging in Lexington, Kentucky, with a major in Social Work and Gerontology. Michael's areas of interest include traumatic brain injury, geriatric mental health and long term care planning. Michael currently operates two assisted care homes in Maine with the focus on dementia/Alzheimers care. Michael is a member of Gerontological Society of America, Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society and Alpha Delta Mu Honor Society. Denis Culley, Director, MPDT Management Company Denis Culley graduated University of Maine School of Law, Cum Laude, in 2003. He served a one year clerkship in the Kennebec Superior Court and then went to work as a staff attorney with Legal Services for the Elderly in 2004. In that position he represented elders in civil litigation in all Maine courts and in administrative hearings before various state and federal agencies. He was a founding member of the Augusta Area Elder Abuse Task Force and has served on Maine's Permanent Commission on the Status of Women, the Maine Board of Environmental Protection, the Maine Commission on Domestic and Sexual Abuse and the Maine Financial Abuse Specialty Team (F.A.S.T.). In 2014 he was the recipient of the Thomas P. Downing Award for dedication to poor and vulnerable Maine residents. He has served as a member of Maine Civil Rules Committee and on the board of the Maine Long Term Care Ombudsman. From April of 2016 through February of 2018 Denis served as an Assistant Attorney General prosecuting financial crimes and securities matters. In February of 2018 he returned to Legal Services for the Elderly and continued his service to Maine's at risk elderly as a Senior Staff Attorney until his retirement in July of 2023. Denis currently serves as a member of the Lawyers' Fund for Client Protection and as president of Maine Pooled Disability Trust Management Company. Cathy McKelway, Director, MPDT Management Company After thirty years in finance and banking at Merrill Lynch, Citibank, and local banks in Maine, Cathy McKelway was Executive Director at MaineStream Finance, a Community Development Financial Institution located in Bangor. Since retiring from full-time employment, Cathy has worked part-time as foreclosure prevention mediator for the Maine court system. She reads CDFI grant applications for the US Treasury’s CDFI fund New Market Tax Credit program and has served on various Maine boards including Maine Technology Institute and Maine Rural Development Authority. |
